Modular Air Handling Unit RFQ Guide for Industrial Projects

Prepare an industrial modular air handling unit RFQ covering airflow, external static pressure, air conditions, filtration, coils, casing, controls, access and delivery scope.

Updated September 8, 2026

Define the duty point

State design airflow and the external static pressure available for the connected duct, terminal and process system. Explain normal and peak operating modes. Ask suppliers to identify the fan selection basis instead of comparing airflow labels alone.

Document entering and leaving air

Record outdoor and return-air proportions, temperature and humidity design points, altitude where relevant, and the required supply-air condition. Identify available chilled water, hot water, steam or other project media without assuming a coil arrangement.

Specify sections and interfaces

List filtration stages, coil duties, humidification or dehumidification needs, heat recovery where applicable, sound requirements, drain connections, controls and monitoring points. Define which sensors, valves, panels and field wiring belong to each party.

Check casing, access and delivery

Provide indoor or outdoor location, corrosion environment, hygiene needs, access direction, service clearances, lifting route and maximum transport module. Buyers should confirm local code and project requirements with their responsible engineers.

RFQ checklist

  • Design airflow and external static pressure
  • Entering and target leaving air conditions
  • Outdoor-air ratio and operating modes
  • Filtration, coils and other required sections
  • Casing, hygiene, acoustic and drainage needs
  • Controls, utilities and interface boundaries
  • Layout, service access and transport limits
  • Documentation, packing, destination and schedule

Frequently asked questions

What data should an AHU RFQ include?

Provide design airflow, external static pressure basis, entering and leaving air conditions, outdoor-air ratio, filtration, coil media, casing and hygiene needs, controls, utilities, layout, access, destination and supply boundaries.

Is airflow alone enough to select an AHU?

No. Fan duty depends on the system resistance and operating point, while thermal sections depend on entering conditions, target leaving conditions and available heating or cooling media.

Why should access be defined before quotation?

Module dimensions, service clearances, lifting route and maintenance access affect section arrangement, delivery split and installation planning.
